1) What is Redkite?
Redkite is an Australian cancer charity providing essential support to children and young people with cancer, and the family and support network who care for them.
2) How can the WA kiting community make a difference for Redkite?
If 50 kiters create a fundraising page – share to their social media tag/get 50 friends asking for only $10 each – we will raise $25,000 for Redkite, beat all our previous records and show Australia that WA kiters truly are the best 😍
3) How do I register for the downwinder?
Members- just set up a profile on the Everday Hero’s site and start fundraising.
Non-members- register at Waksa pay $30 entry fee (covers event insurance) and then set up a profile in everyday Hero’s page and start fundraising
4) How do I raise funds?
It’s as simple as going on the Everyday Hero’s page above click log in and sign up – it takes 3 mins – remember to click share to your social media!
Once you have a page by clicking share on your social media, tag your friends that you know have $10!!
A tip we learnt, with tagging is to use the header: 1 min and $10 for a great cause..by only asking for $10 you can get more people to donate and if people have more to give they usually do..you will be truly amazed at the power of social media! 🙂 I recently set up a page and I thought i would get $200 if i was lucky, we got $500 in a day from just sharing on facebook and then tagging some of our closest friends asking for just $10. Even people that weren’t tagged climbed onboard. People are wonderful and the love doing things for a great cause!! 🙂
5) I need help with my fundraising page
If you want us to set up your page for you just contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your phone number and we will set it up for you over the phone.
6) I want to help raise funds but not do the downwinder.
Members and Non- members are welcome to help!! You don’t have to pay the $30 event fee if you are only Fundraising, just go straight to everyday Hero’s link above, set up a profile and start sharing/fundraising.
7) I don’t want to fundraise but I want to do the downwinder
Members-sign up on the WAKSA website and we will donate $20 of the fee to Redkite. $10 is for costs.
Non members sign up for the event on WAKSA and donate an extra $20 to the Everday Hero’s page -total $50 (Redkite will only get the $20 as the $30 entry fee is for insurance and costs), If you do this option donate to the top fundraiser by clicking on support a friend and typing in their name.
8) Is the downwinder a kid friendly/spectator event..
Yes!!! Come see the team launch at Leighton or land at Brighton. And if you are a member/participant join us for the WAKSA Christmas party after at Floreat SLSC.
